CBS Change Partners Advisory Board

Established in 2024, the CBS Advisory Board is in place to provide both challenge and support to the Managing Director, leveraging the different and significant experiences, sector insights and corporate backgrounds of the members.

The Board also play a Quality Assurance role overseeing the key service delivery programmes and where appropriate, offer insights and advice to the CBS Management team on complex change and evolving regulatory matters and support the talent acquisition requirements of the business.

Importantly, the Advisory Board members can also provide ad-hoc advice to CBS client-side Executives, as and when required.

The current Advisory Board members bring with them a huge breadth of experience of executive responsibility across Financial Services and Retail operations, change and IT:

David Bowerman (formerly MD of UK & European Operations at RBS, Vice-chairman of Citizens Bank and Chief Operating Officer at Tesco Bank),
Alan Hyndman (formerly of Sainsbury’s Bank, Bank of Scotland, Tesco Bank, Standard Life and TSB), and
Andrew Murphy OBE (formerly of the John Lewis Partnership and Bain & Company, and current CEO of TEAL Group (owner of The Entertainer and Early Learning Centre).

Each of the current Advisory Board members have formerly been clients of CBS, giving them both experience of and confidence in CBS as a change partner.

David Bowerman

Advisory

David is an experienced Financial Services leader having spent nearly 40 years in retail banking both in the UK and the US. Initially with RBS/Natwest and more recently with Citizens Bank in North America and Tesco Bank where he as COO his responsibilities included technology, operations, security, property and procurement .

He is also now working as a Non Exec Director supporting a number of smaller start up and scale up businesses across different sectors as well being a Trustee at a prominent Scotland wide charity.

Alan Hyndman

Advisory

With over 35 years experience in the Financial Services sector, Alan is an experienced IT Director and Consultant specialising in large scale technology transformations. During his career, he has successfully established and led complex IT functions, driving innovation and operational excellence principally within the retail banking sector.

More recently, he has leveraged his extensive experience in a consulting capacity, advising on strategic technology initiatives across the financial services and retail sectors. Alan brings a wealth of experience in digital transformation, change delivery, risk management and strategic IT governance to the advisory board.

Andrew Murphy OBE

Advisory

Andrew Murphy OBE is a widely respected retail executive and Board Advisor, whose distinguished career spans leadership roles in large-scale retail operations, transformation, technology, property and customer experience. Having served almost a decade on the Executive Committee of the John Lewis Partnership, during which time he also Chaired the Scottish Retail Consortium, was founding Chair of Essential Edinburgh and a Director of Business LDN, he left to take up a role as a Senior Advisor for Bain - prior to taking over as Group CEO of the UKs biggest toy retailer.

Recognised for his collaborative leadership style, strategic skill and commercial acumen, Andrew has been a leading figure in the UK retail industry for over 20 years.
